| Looking for restaurant
chains or originals is a piece of cake, so to speak for residents and visitors
as the Texas Restaurant Association reports Dallas has more than 7,000 restaurants!
Not impressed? How about this? Dallas has more restaurants per person than New
York City ! The barbecue is tasty at
just about every place in town and there's plenty o' home cookin', southern eatin',
and chili to savor. You can go cosmopolitan with new twists on old favorites including
Italian, Southwestern, pan-Asian, and Tex-mex. Much
of the dining action and five-star restaurants are found in downtown Dallas .
Some places like the clubby Bob's Steak and Chop House have opened a second or
third location in surrounding areas. When you want to treat someone or simply
have an unforgettable dining experience, downtown's central business district
has a buffet of choices. The Hyatt
Regency Dallas Reunion houses fine dining at 50 stories above the city
in one of the most recognizable city structures, Reunion Tower . In Antares, dine
on the finest meal especially in the evening when you can take in the glittering
lights of the city while gently revolving around. Another hotel favorite is the
Centennial Café and you can relax with a favorite drink and hors d'oeuvres
in The Dome Lounge. Take a trip to old
France without leaving Dallas from The Adolphus ' The French
Room. Admire the 18-foot ceilings with murals coming alive from the glow of the
hand-blown crystal chandeliers and gilt sconces. ( The Magnolia
and The Melrose hotels are nearby.) Also close by is Jeroboam
serving new American cuisine in the 1913 Kirby Building . For those hankering
for Mediterranean food, Izmir Mediterranean Tapas is a crowd-pleaser with prices
that won't eat up your travel money. When
in Texas , you might have a cravin' for ol' Southern comfort food and Tiki's takes
care of you with lots of soul. Expect fried chicken, catfish, and sweet potato
biscuits. It may sound unusual, but the Harlem tradition of chicken and waffles
is perfection. Be sure to order them as soon as you sit down since they take time
to cook. Near the Stoneleigh
is The Old Warsaw, a French continental restaurant with a Casablanca
or other 1940s European movie feel. This elegant place comes complete with crystal
chandeliers, mirrors, floral walls, and musicians. We
haven't even left downtown and it wouldn't be right to neglect the next few. The
Chaparral Club is on the 38 th floor of the Adam's Mark Hotel and provides the
breathtaking view expected of a restaurant located sky-high. Its style is art
deco and its taste is American. Thinking
of pyramids, it may conjure thoughts of Middle Eastern cuisine. Surprisingly,
The Pyramid at Fairmont serves American food and it's named
because a pyramid-shaped fixture hid a flaw with the architecture. A
lovely way to start or end a visit to The Dallas Museum of Art is having lunch
at the chic and sleek Seventeen Seventeen. More-->> |
