imports, or “subtitled cinema” lovers will be thrilled with the three-screen Inwood
and five-screen Magnolia Theaters. Both have ample parking and spirits for enjoying
while watching the movie and discussing them after. After
a hiatus, the legendary Honky Tonk, Gilley's has returned to Dallas with a more
urban touch. Not only does country music fill the air in its large showroom and
a mechanical bull awaits for courageous riders, but also it's the official site
for the annual Dallas Golden Gloves and Dallas Jazz Festival. Gilley's has expanded
its taste, so check the venue to see what's playing as it might be up your alley.
Fort Worth has its own answer to Gilley's
in the renowned Billy Bob's Texas presenting almost seven acres of space, over
32 bar stations, live pro bull riding, a dance floor, and music acts. Fill
your heart with laughter at Backdoor Comedy or Addison Improv Comedy Club. Backdoor
Comedy has open mike on Thursdays and it's by White Rock Lake , a nice way to
retreat to nature for a hike, picnic, or stroll. Radisson Central ,
Bradford at Lincoln Park , and Doubletree Campbell Center
hotels are the in the neighborhood. Addison
Improv in Far North Dallas brings national acts and has a full-service restaurant
and bar to round out the evening. Reservations are recommended. Singles
in their 30s and 40s who desire to go out and about to enjoy the company of others
in upscale and semi-upscale nightspots have a wealth of places from which to choose.
These are not hang outs for the college crowd, but are frequented by young professionals.
Such places are easy to reach and most offer convenient parking, something not
common in other major cities. Most of these clubs and bars close at 2:00 AM ,
but a few remain open even later. The
areas with plenty of nighttime action are Deep Ellum, Greenville Avenue , McKinney
Ave, North Dallas , Travis Walk, and the West End . Deep Ellum is a warehouse
district with trendy stores, galleries, nightclubs, bars, festivals, and restaurants.
Sundance Square is the setting for the
nighttime scene in Downtown Fort Worth. At night, it resembles a mini-Vegas with
the bright lights from the surrounding buildings and movie theaters. The
restaurants, clubs, Bass Hall, and Hyena's Comedy Club are walking distance of
one another. The Clarion and Radisson Plaza
are in the middle of the entertainment. Newly restored buildings have replaced
its colorful past of tawdry houses and gambling joints. The
