Fort Worth 's Cultural District has a cluster of museums, galleries, theaters,
shops, and restaurants with enough places to keep anyone busy for more than a
few days. Its newest building is the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth , across
from it is the Kimbell Art Museum , and a jump away is the Amon G. Carter Museum.
Between the three, a person receives a thorough art education and experience.
Also in the District is the Fort Worth
Museum of Science and History that has an Omni Theater and a stellar planetarium.
The exhibits encourage children to engage in activities including Kidspace, an
interactive exhibit for those who are six-years-old and under. Casa
Mañana has a children's playhouse series that runs in the first half of
the year in the winter and the Silver Dome series, a mix of new works, comedies,
dramas, musicals, and plays. The theater sponsors shows at the Bass Performance
Hall and these usually need reservations. As
the city known as "Where the West begins," and Cowtown, there is no
shortage of cowboy heritage. The Will Rogers Memorial Center hosts many large
shows. Every year in January for three weeks, however, it becomes the Fort Worth
Southwestern Exposition Livestock Show and Rodeo (also known as the Stock Show).
Kitty-corner from the Center is the Will Rogers Equestrian Center where horses
participate in a variety of equestrian events. The
newest kid on the block is the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame dedicated
to honoring and documenting women who are the epitome of the pioneer spirit of
the American West. Also near the Cultural
District is the Fort Worth Zoo, one of the top zoos in the US . With 109 acres
of garden, the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is Texas ' oldest botanic garden. Return
to pilgrim days by visiting the Log Cabin Village. The
Dallas Arboretum is by the short of White Rock Lake , a large tropical oasis and
a breathtaking place to take a respite from the city's hustle and bustle. Hotel
choices are Radisson Central , Bradford at Lincoln Park
, and Doubletree Campbell Center . JR
and the Ewing family from Dallas , the TV show, haven't been on the small
screen in over a decade. Yet their Southfork home on the outskirts of Dallas ,
about 35 minutes, continues to receive visitors who tour the famous ranch, shop,
and eat at Miss Ellie's Deli. Dallas
is the eighth-largest US city and its close proximity to Fort Worth, about 30
miles, ensures its visitors with a variety of interests have endless options and
memorable experiences. Since Dallas has a somewhat lower cost of living than most
major cities in the US with a world class airport, it's an ideal place to visit
again and again. If you can't get it all in this time, we'll be here when you
come back next time. <<--Back |
